The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary, humanitarian organization, established by an act of the Indian Legislation in 1920, having on its rolls the States, the Union Territories, the Districts and the Sub-District branches. Its activities are being directed forward to the “Prevention of Diseases, Improvement of Health and Mitigation of Suffering.” The Indian Red Cross Society realized the importance of the youth way back in1925 and established the Junior Red Cross (JRC) in schools and Youth Red Cross (YRC) in colleges.
The LAXMI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF NURSING established its Youth Red Cross Wing (YRCW) on 6th December 2006. The YRCW of our college is proud to reveal its activities.
The YRCW of LMCN had organized various Health Education Programs for the public on various topics, like, “Health Education on Good Habits” for the school children and also Health Education on TB, AIDS, Malaria and Environmental Sanitation for the community.
“Voluntary blood donation drive” organized by YRCW of LMCN and HDFC bank was held on 9th December 2015 at blood bank of A.J.Hospital Research Center, Kuntikana. There were nearly 90 students of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy and also public donated the blood.
The YRCW of LMCN in collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna College on behalf of World blood donors’ day organized a Blood donation awareness program at Sri Ramakrishna College, Mangalore on June 26th 2015. Blood recipients from various places expressed their gratitude for the donors.
