Onam Day Celebration

The Student Nurses’ Association of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing Balmatta, Mangaluru, celebrated Onam day at Mothi Mahal Convention Hall on 31st August 2023. Onam celebrationwas begun with the official welcoming of ‘Mahabali’ in its traditional way. Asan introduction to the Onam celebration, Mr. Nahidu and Ms. Angelene 3rd yearB.Sc. (N) delivered the message on Onam and narrated the story of Mahabali.Ms. Diya TS and the team from 3rd-year B.Sc.(N) sang an invocation song, Ms. Christeena Joseph of 4th year B.S.c welcomed the gathering followed by the lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries on the Dais. The Chief Guest of the day was Rev.Dr. Saleen Joseph Professor and Counsellor of Good ShepherdInstitute Kunnoth Kerala, In his address to the gathering stressed Onam is a celebration of unity and inculturation where everyone irrespective of cast and creed joins in celebrating this auspicious festival. Mahabali signifies triumph of good over evil and brings peace and prosperity to our lives and homes. Appreciated the student council and all the students who have toiled hard in making the event a grand success.
Thiruvathira, a traditional dance was performed by 2nd year B.Sc(N) Students which is one of the most ancient dance forms in Kerala. To add vibrancy and festivity to the occasion cultural programme were conducted by the students of different batches. To create a festive ambience and add cheer to the occasion games and tug of war and chandamela was organized in thepremises which exhilarated the spirit of the gathering.Finally, the Onam celebration came to an end with the grand feast of Onam Sadhya. The Onam celebration program was hosted by Mr. Nahid KU & Ms. Angeline of 3rd year B.Sc. (N).
